Pace Shutting Down - 5/31/24

It’s been a heart wrenching decision, but we’re shutting down the Pace app on May 31. We hope your groups continue together without us. Here’s more information:

Why is Pace shutting down?

We launched Pace with a big goal: to scale mental health support through groups because we believed in the power of emotional connection in small groups. You can read more about why we started Pace here: https://about.pace.group/blog/why-mental-health-is-about-everyone-why-we-started-pace

Over the years, and over 25,000 group sessions, we see that it truly made a difference for many of you—real, honest, and deeply human connections. Your groups worked! Inspired by your success, we tried to bring this experience to millions more people. But we’ve learned that some things might just not be meant to scale up. And honestly, we haven’t been able to grow this in a way that keeps the business sustainable. It’s time for us to get out of the way. Though Pace will shut down on 5/31/2024, we really hope you’ll continue your meaningful connections on your own off of Pace.

When are you ceasing operations?

The Pace platform, including the app, chat, and live sessions, will be inaccessible after 5/31/2024. If you want to continue to meet as a group, we recommend preparing alternative arrangements to meet off of Pace after that date.

How much longer can we meet in live sessions together on Pace?

You can continue to meet in live sessions on Pace until the shutdown date, 5/31/2024. We encourage you to use this time to plan for your group's future meetings off the platform.

What are my options for continuing with my groups?

1. Continue with your host

  • Share emails and phone numbers over group chat, and set up a chat on a messaging app like iMessage or WhatsApp.

  • Calendar a regular time to meet (I.e. your current group day of week + time), and plan to meet over Zoom or Google Meet.

  • Choose to pay your host directly to facilitate. We recommend $120/mo per member, but leave that entirely up to you all.

2. Continue as social group

  • Share emails and phone numbers over group chat, and set up a chat on a messaging app like iMessage or WhatsApp.

  • Calendar a regular time to meet (I.e. your current group day of week + time), and plan to meet over Zoom or Google Meet

3. Review host directory and reach out

How can we keep the group together during this transition?

Exchange contact information, like phone numbers and email addresses. Set up a group chat outside of Pace, using services like Whatsapp. You can attend your meetings over tools like Zoom or Google Meet.

My group is not continuing; can I join another group?

Yes, if your current group is discontinuing and you'd like to join another, you can access our host directory and inquire about their groups.
